Simon Dingle

Simon Dingle is a journalist, writer, broadcaster and speaker based in Johannesburg, South Africa. His favourite things are people and technology and his mission is to bring them together in meaningful ways. At 12 years old he both built his first computer and made his first appearance on radio – and so began his love affairs with technology and broadcasting. Today, Dingle has a radio show on national radio station 5FM every Thursday and he hosts the ZA Tech Show netcast at http://zatech.co.za. Dingle also writes for Finweek Magazine and Brainstorm in South Africa. He describes his specialties as demystifying technology and trends, and regularly speaks about technology and its ability to transform emerging markets. His favourite other pastimes are photography, writing and lawn observation. He is also working on some books, but doesn't want to talk about it...

Andrew Hessel

Andrew Hessel is a genomic scientist and a pioneer in synthetic biology. He is a strong supporter of open source biology for accelerating innovation and as a counterbalance to proprietary biotechnology. He is the founding director and CEO of the Pink Army Cooperative, the world’s first cooperative (open source) biotechnology company that is working to make personalized, affordable medicines for breast cancer. Andrew is also co-chair of the Bioinformatics and Biotechnology programme at Singularity University, an interdisciplinary university whose mission is to prepare leaders for accelerating technological change.

Jenn Lim

Jenn Lim is the CEO and Chief Happiness Officer of Delivering Happiness, a company that she and Tony Hsieh (CEO of Zappos) co-created in 2010 to inspire happiness in work, community and everyday life. In 2005, she created the first Culture Book for Zappos, which, now on its 7th edition, has become a global symbol of how companies can successfully create cultures based on happiness and be profitable at the same time. In 2009, Zappos was sold to Amazon.com in a deal valued at $1.2 billion, and in 2011, Zappos was #6 on Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” list. With the success of the Culture Book and Delivering Happiness, Lim has spoken at companies and universities such as Facebook, Twitter, Pixar and Stanford.

Jenn Lim will discuss how a company like Zappos.com built an enduring brand through customer service and culture, but more importantly, how it proved that happiness can be used as a business model.

Hans Wigzell

Hans Wigzell has published over 700 scientific articles in international peer reviewed journals. He has held the distinguished academic positions of Chairman of the Nobel Prize Committee at Karolinska Institutet, President of Karolinska Institutet, and Professor of Immunology at Karolinska Institutet, among others. Today he is Ajunct Professor at the Institute of Human Viirology at the University of Baltimore and External Advisory Professor, at Ehime University, Japan. Wigzell is also a member of a number of boards including Karolinska Development AB, Biovitrum AB, Intercell in Vienna, Apogee in the US, uMabs in Switzerland and is the Chairman of the Board of SSES.

Christina Lampe-Önnerud

Christina Lampe-Önnerud founder of Boston Power, is a PhD inorganic chemist, a creative business innovator and dynamic leader with extensive experience in disruptive technology deployment. A well-known authority in the battery industry, she has pioneered the use of lithium-ion and other materials to deliver more powerful, longer lasting, safer, cost-effective and environmentally sustainable batteries for applications ranging from laptops to electric vehicles and utility energy storage. With close to 80 patents awarded in energy storage power solutions, Lampe-Önnerud has earned considerable international recognition and received a wide range of awards. Most recently she was elected a lifetime member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, IVA and awarded Swedish Woman of the Year 2011 by SWEA International.

Sara Öhrvall is Director of Global R&D at Bonnier and one of Sweden’s shining international digital media stars. A visionary creative thinker who identified the potential for magazines to go digital at an early stage, she led her team to develop Mag+ whose work with Popular Science was not only rewarded by Steve Jobs, but also put Bonnier on the global digital media map as one of the most innovative media publishers in the world. Previously Öhrvall worked at Toyota and Volvo Cars, where she was head of concept development of jeep, sports and eco cars. Her other experiences include CEO and partner of brand agency Differ and founder of the innovation-focused consulting firm Ninety.

Megan Miller

Megan Miller Megan Miller is the head of Bonnier R&D’s U.S. operations; former editor of the technology website PopSci.com, tech news correspondent for CNN, and digital strategist for Bonnier U.S. magazine brands. In 2011, Miller’s research focused on digital health media and the quantified-self trend. She is currently developing a mobile fitness app called Teemo (launching January 2012), which transforms exercise from a boring, “must-do” activity to a fun, collaborative, and addictive social game.

Ethan Imboden

Ethan Imboden is the founder, Chairman and Chief Creative of Jimmyjane. He started the company in 2003, seeing an unprecedented opportunity to transform consumer experience in an area of universal interest – sexuality. Prior to Jimmyjane, he spent a decade in brand and product innovation with some of the world's top design firms, including Arnell Group, ECCO Design, and Frogdesign, where he consulted for clients such as Ford, Motorola, Dell, Herman Miller and Nike. A prolific innovator, Imboden is credited as inventor on over thirty patents, and has received numerous ID, IDEA, AIGA and Good Design awards in recognition of his contributions to the fields of product and graphic design.

Reed Kram

Reed Kram is a designer whose work crosses diverse fields and interests such as entertainment and hospitality, shopping and consumption, personal identity and cultural coexistence. His projects for Prada, Audi, Moroso, Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg as well as numerous private collectors and cultural institutions have been exhibited and published worldwide and can be found in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Centre Pompidou, the Vitra Design Museum and other leading museums. Together with Clemens Weisshaar, he directs the multinational design and innovation partnership KRAM/WEISSHAAR.

Nicklas Mattsson

Nicklas Mattsson is a journalist since 1988 and the Editor in chief of Entreprenör Magazine issued by the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise since 2006. During the 1990s, Mattsson was a journalist at IDG, and Editor in chief of MacWorld and Internetworld. Between 1999-2002 he participated as an IT and technology expert in the morning TV-show SVT Morgon and between 2000-2004 Mattsson was a partner at the TV production company Jarowskij. Mattsson is also the author of several books and a frequent moderator and speaker at events.

Teo Enlund

Teo Enlund if a former Professor in Industrial Design at Konstfack, recently hired by KTH to set up a centre for design and sustainable development. He is the creator of the Masters program Formgiving Intelligence at Konstfack, with the mission to bridge the gap between strategic intentions and product design, and has educated the majority of the Treschow scholars over the years.

Lisa Lindström

Lisa Lindström is the Managing Director at the Swedish design consultancy Doberman and board member of several major Swedish corporations including the Nobel Prize media company and Avanza Bank. Lindström has been appointed Sweden's Service Innovator of the Year and listed as one of the top 10 female leaders in Sweden. As a true evangelist of innovation methodology, Lindström is often appointed as a speaker and workshop leader at international events such as SDN Berlin . Recently she was appointed as an advisor to the Swedish Government in the definition of a new national innovation policy.

Michael Treschow

Michael Treschow is one of the most influential business people in Sweden. He is the Chairman of the board of Unilever and was the Chairman of the board of Ericsson from 2002-2009. Previous roles include amongst many others CEO of both Atlas Copco and Electrolux. Treschow has also served as the Chairman of the Swedish Confederation of Enterprise between 2004-2007.

In 2003 Treschow instituted a scholarship to stimulate and inspire design students to develop their skills and continue their design education to a higher level. The Michael Treschow scholarship of SEK 50 000 is awarded annually to a design student who continues to a master’s degree upon completion of their bachelor's degree. The student is rewarded for his/her overall portfolio and reasoning where daring, innovative, and lust provoking results are top priority.

Mai-Li Hammargren

Mai-Li Hammargren is the founder and CEO of the Swedish company Mutewatch AB. Hammargren holds an education from Stockholm School of Economics, and a double degree in international management from University of St Gallen and London School of Economics. Mutewatch is one of the few lifestyle products that has been accepted by premium stores such as Colette in Paris, Lane Craford in Hong Kong and NK in Stockholm even before the final product has launched. Nearly 10 000 pieces have been sold and Hammargren was named one of the 101 Super Talents in Sweden in 2010 by Veckans Affärer. The official launch of Mutewatch took place in July 2011.

Niklas Kull

Niklas Kull is a master student in Industrial Design at Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design. Earlier this year he graduated from Lund University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Industrial Design. Kull’s and Gabriella Rubin’s joint Bachelor project “Made in Kenya” is based on research conducted in rural Kenya in March of this year. The starting point was tools and implements used in small scale organic farming. The end result of the project is a human powered juice extractor that can be locally produced at a low cost. The juice extractor empowers small scale farmers to start up their own small juice production for local commerce. Kull is, together with Gabriella Rubin, this years recipient of the Michael Treschow-scholarship.

Gabriella Rubin

Pontus Schultz

Pontus Schultz is one of Sweden’s respected journalist, columnist, commentator and entrepreneur, who is editor and publisher of Veckans Affärer since 2006. In 1995, he worked briefly as a journalist for Expressen, where he reported on the left and right extremism. He is a frequent social commentator, especially in media issues, and is a regular on the Swedish Television.

Rob Meadows

Rob Meadows is a founding partner at Originate, a Silicon Valley venture fund started in 2007 with a focus on creating a better hands-on venture model. Meadows stands by the principle that the most important element for success in any venture is finding smart, self-driven talent and trusting them to succeed. Originate has built a portfolio of over two dozen companies by investing capital and their elite team of engineers and business experts in high potential startups. Prior to Originate, Rob co-founded Lumitrend, a mobile software venture that was acquired by Asurion in 2006, and Meadows Consulting, a technology consulting firm that provided software services for companies such as Qualcomm, Amadeus and Amazon.

Ted Valentin

Ted Valentin is an internet entrepreneur from Stockholm. A self-taught programmer, he started his first web-based business while still a student at SSE. Working from his favorite café on a used laptop, he created a business that he sold for $2 million in 2007. Originally an advocate of "do-it-yourself" and an opponent of venture capital, he is now trying a new path. Today he is the co-founder of Tripbirds.com, a startup aiming to be "Tripadvisor for the Facebook generation". Valentin is also the founder of 24 Hour Business Camp, Sweden's largest hackathon.

Caroline Drucker

Caroline Drucker is Partner Marketing Manager at SoundCloud, the audio platform that enables anyone to upload, record, promote and share their originally-created sounds across the web. Prior to SoundCloud, Drucker worked in media publishing - playing a key role in establishing VICE magazine in the German market; managing the business development for the leading literary and creative quarterly DUMMY and spearheading the digital strategy behind the re-launch of der Freitag, a left-leaning weekly newspaper. Drucker graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bryn Mawr College with a double major in German and The Growth and Structure of Cities. She is a native Canadian and currently resides in Berlin, the home of SoundCloud’s headquarters.

Tom Davidson

Tom Davidson is an entrepreneur with a passion for the development of Stockholm and projects that unify people and organizations. Tom has been engaged in numerous organizations and industries, including media, information technology, communications, fashion, hospitality, sports, luxury goods and networking. Tom is the co-founder of the new business network for Djurgården Fotboll as well as for the members’ club Nobile at the Opera House in Stockholm. In these different initiatives he seeks to connect people and projects to facilitate new interactions and businesses. Tom is also the co-founder of the Stockholm 2020 Initiative that aims to support and vitalize social and cultural enrichment in the Stockholm region. Tim Meldrum

Tim Meldrum manages Enterprise Education within City University London’s Enterprise Office, delivering learning programmes in entrepreneurship across the university. Meldrum recently launched the London City Incubator, training student interns to conduct commercialisation consultancy on live technology projects. He also led the development of commercialisation processes at City to best-practise standards. Tim spent seven years at Imperial College London, latterly running the Entrepreneurship Centre. His BA is from University of Nottingham, his MSc (Econ.) and PhD from LSE, and his MBA from Imperial in 2001.

Ronald Jones

Ronald Jones is the Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies at Konstfack where he leads the Experience Design Group. He is also the SSES Center Director at Konstfack, and Guest Professor in Experience Design at the National Institute of Design in India. Previously, Jones served nine years as Senior Critic at the School of Art, Yale University. He was appointed Professor of Visual Arts in the School of the Arts, and Director of the Digital Media Lab at Columbia University in New York City. He is a member of the Advisory Board, Center for Change, the d. School, The Design Program at Stanford University, and sits on the boards of numerous cultural organizations.

Claudia Olsson

Claudia Olsson is the Managing Director of ACCESS Health International in Singapore, focused on strengthening health systems through health market innovations. In 2010 she was the first Swede ever to participate in the Singularity University Program at NASA Ames in Silicon Valley, learning about how to use the accelerating technological development to address the grand challenges of humanity. Olsson's leadership experiences include working for the United Nations in NYC and Geneva, managing projects in India, Poland and Peru as well as connecting international scientists and Nobel Laureates through Stockholm International Youth Science Seminar. Olsson has been appointed the Talent of the Year by Nova Networks and has also been listed as one of Sweden's Top-Challengers and Future Female Leaders. Olsson recently was invited to join Sandbox, the foremost global community of extraordinary young achievers below 30.
